The open house call was given by the
national Muslim leadership summit of the Muslim organizations that was held last
month in New York
Holding of open house is one of the
efforts by the Muslim community to counter the anti-Muslim propaganda by hate
groups. The community is trying to increase awareness about Islam and is
strengthening its alliances with other communities.
In another attempt to protect itself
from hate attacks, the Muslim community is working closely with the civil rights
groups and peace movement to strengthen the rule of law and to safeguard
American constitution and the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution.
Many Muslim organizations will be participating in the peace conference on
November 6th at Saint Mark's church in lower Manhattan.
Imam Khalid Griggs, the national
co-chair of the Muslim Peace Coalition advised the Muslim humanitarian
organizations to publicize more effectively their anti-hunger drives,
disaster-relief campaigns for Americans and other similar campaigns and
projects.
Dr. Shaik Ubaid, the co-chair of the
New York chapter of the Muslim Peace Coalition stated that, “The Muslim
community is concerned about the growing number of attacks on Muslims and
masjids (mosques) all over the country. Demonization of a community has
always led to mass persecution and even genocide. Muslim leadership takes
demonization against Islam and Muslims seriously and is thankful to
leaders of faith-based communities, human rights groups and to the media
personalities who have spoken out against Islamophobia. Muslims have been an
integral part of this nation for centuries. America was built by the slave labor
of Muslims and Muslims today contribute to its progress, prosperity and security
as productive American citizens and professionals."
